Sri Lankan Curry
Sri Lanka neighbors India and one taste of their curry will show both shared heritage and essential differences. Dry roasting of the spices and a notable lack of turmeric make this curry powder unique. The robust flavor of Sri Lankan Curry makes it a favorite for hearty meat dishes, but the deep and rich flavors also complement root vegetables and squash dishes.

Star Anise
This pretty, star-shaped spice has an intensely sweet licorice taste and smell, offering a notable counter-point of flavor. It has many uses both alone and in combination. Star anise pairs beautifully with sweet potatoes and pumpkin, and offers a unique addition to caramelized onions.Just toss a small piece in the pan and it really brings out the 'beefiness' of the onions. Star anise is a key ingredient in Chinese Five Spice and flavors the beef stock for the Vietnamese soup, pho.

Svaneti Seasoned Salt
This blend is named for Svaneti, the mountainous region of Georgia where this blend originated. Svaneti Salt is now popular throughout Georgia and is used as much as chefs in the States would use pre-packaged seasoning salt. However, there is nothing ordinary about this blend. The Georgian's typical flair for spicing shines through with notes of caraway, coriander, fenugreek, Tellicherry black pepper, garlic, and chile, combined exquisitely on a base of sea salt. Svaneti salt enhances any form of red meat from tenderloin to Philly cheese steak.
Syrian Za'atar
Za'atar is a time honored spice blend, and regional variations are beloved throughout the Middle East. This Syrian version carries on the classic flavor combination of toasted sesame and sumac, but also boasts a base of toasted cumin and coriander with just a hint of anise. An excellent all-purpose condiment blend, Syrian Za'atar is particularly tasty sprinkled liberally on lamb, both before and after grilling.
Szechuan Pepper
Szechuan pepper (also spelled "sichuan") is not related to black pepper, but is the dried berry from the Chinese prickly ash bush. Also known as fagara, this spice has a tingly flavor that zaps the tongue like an electrical current. Intense! Use like pepper for a tasty change of pace.
