"Incoming", weekly farm share produce+ just arrived, along with a delivery from World Spice. Coincidence or Spicey Synchronicity??? Not pictured are some yellow onions and ground turkey that came with the shares.
We will grill the emerald and asian eggplants tonight outside over charcoal, along with salmon. Blistered shishito peppers will be part of appetizers.
The okra we will fry in a day or too.
The greens in back are special - purslane and some tender daikon greens. They were a surprise the farm had available a few of, so I had them included. Daikon greens I've sauteed before. Purslane will be a mystery.
The mushrooms are farmers choice but mostly shitakes it looks like.
There will probably be turkey meatballs done with asian spices in a day or too. The bells and tomatoes will make some marinara for freezer and just otherwise be eaten 😅 the cukes: eaten too.
There will probably be a ramen bowl this weekend with odds and sods from the haul and what we have on hand.
The spices received from World Spice, Thyme, cinnamon & onion powder, was low on all 3. The sample thrown in is their Kashmiri Garam Masala. I'll have to se how that compares ~ in a pinch~ to my house blend. I'm sure its great tho.

This is incredible! Bounty is right. I'm lucky enough to live in an area with many wonderful small farms and farm stands, but I've yet to sign up for a CSA. Perhaps next year will be my year!
I love purslane and tend to just nibble it from the garden edges where I try to encourage it to grow wild-ish. The flavor and texture are so pleasing to me. Fresh veg like cukes and peppers tend to disappear quickly in my house because we are big snackers. A lot of things never make it to a dinner plate at all. I've never worked with daikon greens but I bet they are SUPER delicious and might be a nice addition to some brothy noodles like ramen.
Thank you so much for sharing this, it really is inspiring. My brain is whirring with ideas!
The produce does look beautiful. I'll be curious to hear if you try theKashmiri Garam Masala on any of it, just as an experiment.
I just might,
@Porter
, I'm curious what it's like. And I'm low on my own, so it will come in handy!! 😊
I did put the World Spice Thyme received yesterday immediately to use - it went on a salad of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and this green, "purslane", that's amazing (its like a succulent, so the tender leaves are sort of crunchy and juicy) ~ the thyme was also amazing, it was so aromatic and fresh testing!!! Quality 🙌
And the thyme went into marinara i made with all those tomatoes (a small vat haha, most will get frozen for use in the dark season).
Here's the salad before it got dressed with thyme, balsamic and oil.
Cheers ~
Oh, apples are an add on from shares parner farms. Watermelon was included - it will go with dinner tonight, etc. The share is quite flexible, only 2 to 3 items are prechosen...this week your choice of several types of sweet and hot peppers (either or both) and a melon -watermelon or sunjewel. I chose watermelon. The remainder ypu can select from right now a true bounty of late summer vegies.
