Cooks Club

Hi again,

We have something new: We've redone our online shop. Third time in three years, if you're counting... but this is the first time it looks like us. Like most things here at World Spice, we do it ourselves and by hand, and we're really proud of this one.

Here's what we mean. Our tins have always carried a certain air — labels that look like they've traveled, like they know a port town or two. The site finally matches them. Bold where the spices are bold, unfussy where they don't need help. A design that proudly proclaims that this is a catalog assembled from a lot of places all over the world our passports, or just our fantasies, have been.

But the point of a redesign isn't the design. It's finding things.

So now you can shop by flavor — reach for warm or smoky or tingly and see what turns up.

Or shop by what's on the counter tonight. Lamb? There's  Za'atar Lamb Chops  waiting, and a  Baharat Lamb Stew, and a slider that puts coffee where you don't expect it. Chicken, naturally!, yields a longer list:  Zesty Biscayne Chicken SkewersChicken Bulgogi Marinade, the  Chicken Tikka Masala  that turns out to be a touch British. The recipes were always there. Now they're much easier to reach.

There's more of them, too. And we're starting to tell longer stories — where a spice comes from, who grows it, the odd corners a blend has wandered through on its way to your kitchen.  Chinese Five Spice  balancing all five tastes since some Tang-dynasty cook decided it should.  Voodoo, which carries New Orleans in it — French and African and Caribbean, arguing pleasantly. A blend isn't a list, after all, it's a mood, a flavor, your next favorite meal.

Please, go have a look around! we love wandering through our store and through our kitchens, and hope you'll enjoy wandering through the site. Please let us know what feedback you have.

Happy cooking,
World Spice
